Boilerplate
NZVoteCheck (nzvotecheck.com) is an independent, non-partisan voting guide for the 2026 New Zealand general election. Its 37-question quiz compares a voter's views with the published policy of the six parties in Parliament, and every one of its 222 party positions links to the source it came from. It is built and run by one New Zealander, carries no advertising, and takes no money from any party, broadcaster, donor or lobby group.
You are welcome to quote this word for word, with or without a link.
How it works
Voters answer 37 statements on a five-point scale and say which issues matter most to them. Each party holds a position on the same scale for every statement, taken only from what it has published: manifestos, policy pages and reported announcements. Parties are not consulted and have no say in where they are placed.
The quiz returns a percentage match with each party, a breakdown by policy area, and the voter's place on a two-axis political chart. The question set is tested for balance every time it changes, and the results, including where it falls short, are published on the methodology page.
Independence
NZVoteCheck is not affiliated with, funded by or endorsed by any political party, candidate, lobby group, broadcaster or other voting quiz. It is a separate tool from TVNZ's Vote Compass, and our comparison of the two explains how they differ.

Data
Answers are stored anonymously, and only when the voter leaves the sharing box ticked. No name, email or IP address is ever kept. Aggregate figures may be available to newsrooms and researchers on request; individual answers are never shared. Results come from people who chose to take an online quiz, so they describe its users, not the electorate.
